RB Leipzig manager responds directly to reports Liverpool want Naby Keita

RB Leipzig head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl insists Naby Keita will "100 per cent" be staying with the Bundesliga club for the upcoming season, ending speculation linking him with a summer move to Liverpool.

They returned with an offer that, with add-ons, was worth more than £66m - a fee that would have been nearly double what Liverpool spent to bring Mohamed Salah from Roma last month.

Jurgen Klopp has made the 22-year-old his top target but has so far failed to convince Leipzig into selling.

Liverpool have been left frustrated in their pursuit of Keita after RB Leipzig rejected two club record bids for the Guinea worldwide.

RB Leipzig chief Ralf Rangnick has attempted to clarify criticism of Naby Keita's camp.

Leipzig will embark on their first ever Champions League campaign this term and they have already signed the likes of Jean-Kevin Augustin and Bruma to bolster their squad.

When asked about another potential bid for Keita, Klopp responded: "Then we'll make a €300m offer for Keita!"

"The chance [of Keita leaving] is null", the manager said.

Hasenhuttl believes Keita will benefit from another season of development with Leipzig, with the experience of making his Champions League debut a crucial part of his development.

"We stated at the start of the transfer window that we would begin next season with the players who finished the last and nothing has changed".

"Everyone can see now how important Naby Keita is with our game".

"They (Liverpool) will not be the only one I think".

"Liverpool will finish their transfer activities and that's ok with me".

And Keita's emergence of one of the most sought after players in European football comes as no surprise to his manager, who is looking forward to another "fantastic" season with the midfielder in his ranks.
