Psy's Gangnam Style isn't the most played YouTube video any more

Video Screengrab Universal

After its release, Gangnam Style music video became the most viewed video on YouTube.

The Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth track featured in the movie Furious 7 as a tribute to Paul Walker who had died in a auto accident two years prior.

For the last five years, the insanely compelling dance video "Gangnam Style" has dominated the YouTube video leaderboards.

Psy's song had been on top for the past five years, taking over from Justin Bieber's "Baby" in November 2012.

Additionally, Puth wrote on Twitter how surprised he was to find See You Again as the most-watched video on YouTube. As YouTube keeps growing in the size of its audience, newer videos that capture the same percentage of YouTube's viewers will have more pageviews than older videos that have lost their buzz.

The video has almost 2.9 billion views.

In addition to Wiz Khalifa and Psy, Taylor Swift appears twice in the top ten most views music videos with "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space" and amazingly just a few months after release "Despacito" has found itself at number 5!

It's now been beaten out by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's 2015 tear-jerking song "See You Again".

Their official "See You Again" video was released on YouTube on April 6, 2015. The pair's video for "See You Again" is now the most-watched video ever on YouTube, with more than 2.896 billion views as of Tuesday, July 11, 2017. Walker died in a auto crash two years earlier, but appeared posthumously in Furious 7. "Having 10,000 views on Youtube is good already, how much more if the views reached to more than 2 billion, I can not ask anything more", he said.

Another fun fact in today's news is how long See You Again has been watched.

"I remember when I signed up for YouTube in 2007 and had hopes of uploading a video and it reaching 10,000 views", Puth said in a statement.
