What Happens if the Media Defies White House Camera Ban?

Survey finds Israel, Russia are only countries that favor Trump over Obama

Representatives from the White House Correspondents Association met with Spicer on Monday to express the importance of Americans getting the chance to question leaders.

"Would you say that the President is upset at the delay?" a reporter asked.

"'We don't have a great camera person so let's not go on camera as much' is only OK in the short term", the source continued.

After several such outbursts by Acosta, another reporter asked Spicer about the White House's decision.

"Yeah, some days we'll have them on, some days we'll have them off", the spokesman said.

"It was a new administration, I think we wanted to talk about what was going on here", she said.

Shortly thereafter, Spicer held an off-camera briefing.

Fox News' Sean Hannity called CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta "unhinged" in a Tuesday evening monologue, and on Wednesday, Acosta replied.

"Will someone, anyone, step up and end these distressing displays of White House dysfunction and disregard for the obligation of the presidency to provide citizens with some sense of truthful information and accountability?" he wrote.

Sean Spicer, the ghosts of press secretaries past would like to have a word with you. "You are a taxpayer-funded spokesman for the United States government, can you at least give us an explanation for why the cameras are off?"

And I've noticed over the years that when the cameras are off the questions tend to be more focused on policy, and less on scandal, politics, and a desire for confrontation for its own sake. "Can we address the cameras issue?"

Spicer, calling on Trey Yingst of One America News Network, was instead forced to finally answer. Not only has this begun to upset the press corp, but it has also reportedly caused some alarm among a few Trump surrogates according to an article by The Hill aptly titled: "Press briefing crackdown worries Trump allies". Jeff Mason, the president of the WHCA, met with Spicer and his deputy, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, last week. "Talk to the camera and that voter in MI, talk to them directly".

The source who consults the administration agreed. He also said that with the spin cycle as it is, his supporters would get the message directly and he also pointed to the fact that so many people were drawn to those televised briefings.

The pair made that case in a column they co-authored for the Columbia Journalism Review in early January, before Trump even took office.

"Trump is a reality star, so we can't be a serious, behind the scenes presidency", the source said.

"There's a video circulating now, whether it's accurate or not, I don't know".
