Teen who fell from Six Flags ride remains hospitalized

Crowd catches teen falling from Six Flags park ride

The ride operator apparently stopped the attraction while bystanders gathered below to catch the girl if she fell to the ground.

A 14-year-old girl was injured when she dropped from a ride Saturday night at a Six Flags amusement park in upstate NY, the sheriff's office said.

"The victim was later transported via helicopter to the Albany Medical Center where she remains in stable condition with no serious injuries reported".

Police believe "human error" on the part of the girl who fell from a ride at The Great Escape was the cause of the weekend accident that has drawn national attention to the amusement park.

The video shows her trying to free herself from the Sky Ride ride while onlookers are yelling, "Her neck is stuck".

"There's a lot of negativity going on about this, that it's the girl's fault, it's Six Flags' fault, it's security's fault", Howard said.

Without hesitation, people ran towards the girl gathering together as they told the girl to let go, saying they would catch her, Good Morning America reports.

"My daughter was just traumatized", he said.

Howard says he stood under the girl and promised he'd catch her. "Every situation is unique and requires the appropriate time and tools for the evacuation". "We are reviewing our internal procedures to ensure the safety and security of our guests and team members", officials said.

The unnamed 14-year-old slips through the safety barrier and desperately clings on while crowds gather below at the Six Flags Amusement Park.

On Sunday, he visited the girl at the hospital with Winchell.

Mr Lent said he thought it took too long for park employees to stop the ride and give help. They didn't know how she'd fallen out of the ride.

Officials at the Six Flags Amusement Park - where the incident happened - said that there did not appear to be "any malfunction of the ride". He estimated the girl had been dangling for at least 90 seconds and possibly even a few minutes.
