Three workers were injured, two critically, in a construction accident in Astoria, Queens Tuesday.

It happened on 28th Road by 33rd Street in Astoria a little after 3:30 p.m.

One of the workers, described as a 37-year-old man, removed himself from the rubble and was in serious but critical condition, FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said.

NY1 has a crew on the way and will bring you the latest from the scene as soon as possible.

A 40-year-old worker was quickly pulled from the debris conscious but with critical injuries.

All three victims were transported to Elmhurst Hospital Center.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m., a third person was still trapped in the basement and firefighters were working through a narrow hole to free him or her.

Video shows firefighters removing debris from the building's basement.

Fire officials said that neither a crane nor a crane boom collapsed. It is reportedly a two-story building that has been permitted to add a third story.
