Texas Representative Roger Williams said a member of his staff was also shot and was receiving medical attention.

The Vice President and I are aware of the shooting incident in Virginia and are monitoring developments closely.

Bailey worked as a Capitol police officer for nine years, according to his LinkedIn page, and previously worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
