Megyn Kelly says important to 'shine a light' on Alex Jones

Erin Andrews tells Megyn Kelly she can't forgive her stalker in emotional interview

Jones, the Huffington Post continues, is now demanding NBC not air the interview, which he characterizes as a "hit piece" on him.

The family of Victoria Soto, a Sandy Hook teacher who lost her life while trying to save her students, released a statement on Facebook directed at Kelly and NBC. Besides saying she asked about subjects he didn't want to talk about, Jones told his InfoWars listeners on Thursday that Kelly was "not feminine, cold, robotic, dead". It doesn't leave space for context and debunking.

After his interview had been taped, Jones denounced it on "InfoWars" as "fake news, in my view".

If Jones's words didn't have risky real-world consequences, it wouldn't matter much.

If you've ever watched Alex Jones, as I have, you might come away steeped in a dark and distorted view of the world.

He delivers these freakish claims, and many others, red-faced, in his signature husky rasp. He said he recently turned down other TV appearances like "The View". The hotelier who's now president of the United States called Jones "a nice guy" when he appeared on Jones' show. Along with Breitbart and Fox News, Infowars was one of the keys sources of information for conservatives in the last election.

"For example, people may feel differently about the interview if Kelly aggressively challenges Jones about his words and confronts him with the unnecessary pain and torment he helped unleash upon grieving families", Seaman wrote. "This is pathetic. The only way I could fail was not doing it, and letting them rig it, and letting them interview me for four hours to edit it together, and then be able to show people what was really said".

Cristina Hassinger - whose mother, Sandy Hook Elementary Principal Dawn Hochsprung - was one of six adults killed in the massacre, deplored the decision to give Jones network airtime.

Just last week, a Florida woman who claimed the mass shooting was a hoax and sent death threats to a parent whose 6-year-old son was killed, was sentenced to five months in prison.

There was also the so-called Pizzagate scandal late previous year.

Jones pointed to how NBC crew members manipulated lighting for the interview as evidence it was a strategic attack on him.

He's the main reason your otherwise pleasant uncle starts saying at Thanksgiving dinner that 9/11 was an inside job, Hillary Clinton ran a child sex ring out of a pizzeria, and most disgustingly that the Sandy Hook massacre was faked by Barack Obama with child actors.

The full interview is scheduled to air at 7 p.m. (EST) on Father's Day, June 18, during "Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly" on NBC. "Judge it when you see it. Megyn does a strong interview. Many don't know him; our job is 2 shine a light", the anchor tweeted.
