Body of Frenchman recovered from Thames, UK attack death toll

Identity Of London Bridge Attackers Revealed 18928491 1469360899795329 1439437859

"Formal identification has not yet taken place, however Mr. Thomas' next of kin have been informed of this development".

In the Saturday night rampage, the attackers first drove a rented van into a crowd and then jumped out and randomly stabbed people they encountered.

Last night around 7:45pm, the body of another man was recovered from the river, near Limehouse, by specialist officers from the Marine Police Unit.

London's Metropolitan Police confirmed on the Wednesday that the death toll from the London Bridge terrorist attack has risen to eight people.

Xavier Thomas, 45, is thought to have been struck by the terrorists' van on London Bridge and thrown into the water below, the UK's Metro reported.

His sister Nathalie Cros Brohan said: "The silence and waiting without news of him, is bad".

Pigeard's dad described his son's death as an "incredible injustice", describing him as a "wonderful son, a flawless big brother", and a "shining young man", the Telegraph reported. "The more time that passes, the more we fear the worst and our hope diminishes".

Thomas was walking with his girlfriend Christine Delcros across the bridge when the terrorists struck, the Evening Standard reported.

His girlfriend, who was hit by the vehicle, is seriously injured in hospital.

The news brings the number of victims to eight.

Australians Sara Zelenak, 21, and Kirsty Boden, 28, Canadian Christine Archibald, 30, French waiter Alexandre Pigeard, 27, and Briton James McMullan also died.

Spanish banker Ignacio Echeverria, 39, and French chef Sebastien Belanger, 36, were confirmed among the dead.

His father, Joaquin Echeverria, said British authorities had previously not shared any information with them, but his son's employer, HSBC, had provided the services of a private detective to help with their search.

A college friend of Mr Pigeard's told the BBC the victim's mother was devastated by the news.

His sister Isabel has reportedly spent hours trying to visit hospitals in London in the hope of finding her brother alive.
