Trump lashes out at leaks, considers staff upheaval

Trump also said that "many of the leaks coming out of the White House are fabricated lies".

Speaking on Sunday's news shows, Kelly said he didn't know whether the reports by The Associated Press and other news outlets involving Kushner, who is President Donald Trump's son-in-law, were true.

Trump's longtime lawyer, Marc Kasowitz, has joined a still-forming legal team to help the president shoulder the intensifying Russian Federation investigations. Priebus and White House adviser Steve Bannon have been laying the groundwork for the new "war room".

Kellyanne Conway, White House counselor, has told The Associated Press that Dubke handed in his resignation before President Donald Trump left for his worldwide trip earlier this month.

"My dashboard warning light was clearly on", Clapper said. But he said on "Fox News Sunday" that "any channel of communications back or otherwise with a country like Russian Federation is a good thing".

Ambassador Sergey Kislyak was taken aback by the suggestion of allowing an American to use Russian communications gear at its embassy or consulate - a proposal which would have carried security risks for Moscow as well as the Trump team, said the Post.

Contacts between Trump associates and Russian officials during the campaign coincided with what U.S. intelligence agencies concluded was a Kremlin effort through computer hacking, fake news and propaganda to boost Trump's chances of winning the White House.

The disclosure of the back channel has put the White House on the defensive.

White House Communications Director Mike Dubke confirmed reports he had resigned, saying in a statement, "It has been my great honor to serve President Trump and this administration".

The homeland security secretary was specifically talking about information leaked relating to the bombing in Manchester, but the comments had broader implications under a presidency that has been either implicated in or the victim of numerous leaks of sensitive information.

"It's both normal, in my opinion, and acceptable", he said on the ABC.

The Washington Post reported on Wednesday (24 May) that the Federal Bureau of Investigation obtained a document detailing an alleged email from then-Democratic National Committee (DNC) chief Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

The talks between Kushner and the Russians, if confirmed, raise new questions about the Trump team's relationship with Moscow, which United States intelligence agencies say tried to sway the November election in Trump's favor. Officials said he misled Vice President Mike Pence about whether he and the ambassador had discussed USA sanctions against Russian Federation in a phone call.

The back channel was meant to connect Michael Flynn, who later became Trump's first national security adviser, with Russian military leaders, said the person, who wasn't authorized to publicly discuss private policy considerations and spoke on condition of anonymity.

"You have to ask, well, who are they hiding the conversations from?"

He vowed his administration "will get to the bottom of this" because they "pose a grave threat to our national security".

Additionally, Republican Sen. John McCain told an Australian news station that he was not pleased to hear reports regarding Kushner. Senator Bob Corker, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, noted that Kushner has been willing to answer questions. "I don't know why people do it but they do, and that's the world we live in", he continued during an appearance on on "Fox News Sunday".
