Brook loses IBF welterweight title to Spence Jr

SHOWDOWN From left- Kell Brook and Errol Spence Jr. at today's weigh-in ahead of their match tomorrow

There is pressure on Brook to reestablish himself as a welterweight after he made a name for himself in his tight win over Shawn Porter.

Despite suffering what appeared to a serious injury to his left eye, Brook bravely attempted to fight on. "This fight is going to be a thriller, fireworks from round one, he's not going to take a backward step and I'm not".

The last time Spence stepped into the ring was in August, when he defeated Leonard Bundu by a vicious knockout in Spence's hometown of NY.

Brook looked healthy and in pristine condition, inside the welterweight limit and with his focus shining through before what promises to be another testing examination of his ring craft and resilience.

The 27 year-old overcame some big shots and bullying tactics from Brook early on to break the Briton's OTHER eye socket during the fight's mid-rounds. He is the mandatory challenger for Brook's title for a reason and it says a lot when Sugar Ray Leonard is among those who describe the softly-spoken father of two as "the real deal".

Brook has won 36 of his 37 fights, 25 by knockout.

The 31-year-old completed his descent from the middleweight division by coming in under 147lbs for the fourth defence of his title and his toughest fight to date at that weight.

The undercard includes a WBA super middleweight title fight between George Groves of London and Fedor Chudinov of Russian Federation.
