Libya says working closely with Britain over concert attack

President Trump vowed on Thursday to bring anyone caught leaking US intelligence to justice after British police stopped sharing information about the Manchester suicide bombing with the United States.

British police investigating the terror network behind the Manchester Arena attack have reportedly stopped providing relevant information about the case to U.S. intelligence.

"I will make clear to President Trump that intelligence that is shared between our law enforcement agencies must remain secure", she said while speaking in 10 Downing Street in central London ahead of her departure for the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation meeting.

"While we do not usually comment on information-sharing arrangements. having received fresh assurances, we are now working closely with our key partners around the world including all those in the "Five Eyes" intelligence alliance", Mark Rowley, Britain's lead officer for counterterrorism policing, said in a statement.

May said she would talk to Trump at a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit later on Thursday about the leaks, which included the publication of photographs of the bomb site by the New York Times.

"The leaks of sensitive information pose a grave threat to our national security", Trump said, adding that he is asking the Department of Justice to launch an investigation and find those behind the leak.

"If appropriate, the culprit should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law", Trump said. As the BBC noted, the name of the 22 year old attacker appeared in US media hours after the explosion, while British media remained in the dark.

President Donald Trump's Administration has been leaking like a veritable sieve given the drumbeat of unnamed-sourced stories about investigations into Russian connections, conflicts of interest, high-profile firings and the general turmoil in the White House. "This damage is even greater when it involves unauthorised disclosure of potential evidence in the middle of a major counter terrorism investigation", the statement reads. The mayor of Manchester, Andy Burnham, called the leaks "arrogant, wrong and disrespectful".

Home Secretary Amber Rudd, a top British official, called the leaks "irritating".

"Quite frankly, the British police have been very clear that they want to control the flow of information in order to protect operational integrity, the element of surprise", she said.

The New York Times also published a graph of the crime scene showing the location of the bodies, most of which were in a circle around the suicide bomber. It also revealed the layout of the blast area and locations of the victims and the bomber's torso.

She says Abedi believed it was because the friend was Muslim.
