Carroll says Seahawks considering Kaepernick as backup

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll this week in a radio hit said his team was considering the addition of former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

"We're looking at everybody", Carroll said on 710 ESPN's "Brock and Salk" show. After being asked specifically about Kaepernick and another free agent, Robert Griffin III, Carroll said, "We're looking at everybody". "We've been tracking everything that's going on, and we've got cap and roster issues and stuff like that that we're still trying to make sure that we manage properly".

"We're looking at everybody".

Kaepernick played in 12 games for the San Francisco 49ers last season, throwing for 2,241 yards and 16 touchdowns to four interceptions.

With Kaepernick under center, the San Francisco 49ers lost nine straight and 10 of 11 overall to finish last season with the second-worst record in the National Football League at 2-14. Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman and defensive end Michael Bennett have suggested Kaepernick has been blackballed.

"It's hard to see because he's played at such a high level, and you see guys, quarterbacks, who have never played at a high level being signed by teams". After months of anonymous comments about what Kaepernick may or may not want, NFL Network's Mike Silver is reporting Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider reached out to Kaepernick's agent last Friday. Obviously he's going to be in a backup role at this point. Trevone Boykin threw 18 passes as an undrafted rookie last season, but off-field issues leave his status very tenuous. "So it's hard to understand", said Sherman in March.

Kaepernick, 29, has remained unemployed despite a career resume that's much better than several quarterbacks who have been signed this offseason.

Boykin was arrested earlier this offseason on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and public intoxication after a auto crash in Dallas.
