Nintendo Will Host Splatoon 2 Tournament at E3 This Year

Following today's release of financial results for the 2016 fiscal year, Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima spoke as usual with shareholders and journalists to comment on the state of the company.

Q4 is ALWAYS the biggest sales period for console makers.

One reason behind the Switch's strong start is that unlike its predecessor Wii U, the console has a long list of game titles from independent studios because Nintendo made the Switch compatible with publicly available game development platforms from the start, said Hirokazu Hamamura, a director at Kadokawa Dwango Corp (9468.T), which publishes games magazines. Gamestop and Target have gotten more stock of the Switch here and there, but it's a limited amount. There's no direct comparison, but in terms of sales it's trending ahead of where Xbox One was and behind where PS4 was during their own launch months.

Assuming Zelda is one of those games for almost everyone - which is fair speculation based on the performance so far - that means Nintendo will need a couple more hits for this year.

The Switch's selling point is its flexibility: it is essentially a tablet that can be docked at a TV for gaming at home but also converts to a mobile gamepad so players can take their games on the go.

It's not all bad news, though, and others have experienced fewer or no problems with the Switch eShop curation and process.

Nintendo's other devices are seeing an increase in sales and downloads.

Another indie studio claimed that while communications with the NoA partnership staff is now "up and running", a period of silence predated the Switch's launch - one that held back the development of projects before then.

If there's a major takeaway from Nintendo's latest earnings report, it's this: the Switch is #2.

He's not one of Nintendo's more famous execs, but his influence on the company has been enormous.

Still, Nintendo Switch, completely replacing the 3DS isn't all that bad, especially the possibilities being unlocked for its library. It may be tough to reach that goal, but the launch of Super Mario Odyssey just in time for the holidays should certainly help with that.

While it's more expensive than it seems, Switch does offer strong value. He's mostly worked in hardware research and development, but has also headlined games such as Startropics and Punch-Out!

All major United Kingdom retailers will be selling the Nintendo Switch for £279.

In addition, the fact that Switch works as a portable tablet, as well as hooked up to a television adds value.

For the current (2017-18) fiscal year Nintendo is estimates net sales of 750bn yen and an operating profit of 65bn yen.

Yes, you read that right.

"Many of the folks buying a Switch this past weekend no doubt purchased it with the intent of playing Breath of the Wild". Assuming you want all of those things, you will still be paying a slight (around $20) premium for the bundle, and you will still need an extra controller. Initial hype could cause consumers to overpay for bundles, or even pay a premium in the resale market.
