DJI M600 Pro drone features a 100MP Hasselblad camera

DJI Goggles review

The DJI M600 Pro's Hasselblad H6D-100c camera employs a 53.4mm x 40mm sensor promising bags of detail and tonal range, as well as low-light capability.

Drone maker DJI on Monday unveiled a virtual reality headset to help give your friends who might be standing next to you as you fly your drone a first-person view of all the footage that the drone's camera is capturing.

Thanks to built-in head tracking, the DJI Goggles can also be used for first-person view flight control, assuming you use them with a Mavic Pro or Phantom 4 series drone.

The DJI Goggles feature two 1920x1080 displays, one for each eye, which can offer 1080/30 or 720/60 modes each with 110ms latency.

Not unfamiliar in these days of Virtual Reality headsets, the DJI Gogges have two screens inside which display the "first person view" or FPV from your drone as it flies.

The DJI Goggles should last six hours on a charge, feature touch controls on the side for menu exploring and even work for those wearing glasses. "We fully expect that they will be thrilled with the fun and immersive experience of flying with our goggles", he says.

And in Fixed Wing Mode, DJI Goggles brings a whole new way to fly the Mavic Pro, the firm explained. DJI Inspire drones as well as the Phantom 4 Series including the Phantom 4, Phantom 4 Advanced, Phantom 4 Pro, can connect to the Goggles through a USB port on the controller.

'An AR trajectory prediction feature in Fixed Wing Mode makes using this mode much safer in complex environments'.

The DJI M600 Pro consists of an adaptable six-rotor flight platform with the Lightbridge 2 transmission system, a dust-proof propulsion system and six Intelligent Flight Batteries. Turning your head is like moving the control sticks - turn left, or right to yaw left or right, and straighten your head to stop the turn. You can also plug headphones into the headphone jack or use the onboard speakers to listen to audio on videos being played through the HDMI cable. The DJI Goggles will start shipping after May 20, 2017.
