No Bones about it: Cormier, Johnson set for UFC rematch

As the clock ticked closer to the 11 a.m. deadline in Buffalo, UFC lightweight champion Daniel Cormier hit the scales at 206.2 pounds, 1.2 pounds over the light heavyweight limit. Despite the loss, Johnson is widely regarded as one of the best fighters at 205 pounds and one of the best finishers in the sport.

Still, Cormier - who wasn't too thrilled with Jon's presence in NY - knows a do-over against "Bones" is likely next once the Jones completes his one-year suspension for a failed drug test in a matter of months.

After having fought and defended his title against Anthony Johnson in the main event of Saturday's UFC 210, Cormier responded to his rival's comments at the post-fight conference.

But in sports, retirement isn't always permanent and Johnson admitted as much, saying a bout against the UFC former light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones is the one that got away.

Many observers noticed Cormier's hands were on top of an outstretched towel during his second attempt, which could offset weight. After moving up to 185 pounds for a pair of fights, Johnson finally made a decision to move to 205 where many said he should have been fighting from the beginning.

UFC 210 was full of controversy and head scratchers in different areas, and Twitter was all over every aspect of the night.

- Daniel Cormier has had enough of Jon Jones, and the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion isn't even fighting him this weekend.

The only questions are when Jones' first fight will take place and who'll he'll face. So, I went out there and did my thing, and whatever happened was going to happen, so I wasn't really anxious about anything.

"I can't wait to get back to Buffalo", he said. "I want to do something besides going to the gym everyday punching and kicking and rolling around with another dude".

"But now I'm going to fly to Las Vegas and then on to NY so I'll be there to throw a cat among the pigeons". I'm exhausted of getting punched by guys and rolling around with guys and stuff like that. This whole time I've been here.

"To fall back so far because of a damn sex pill, and to have people kind of assume your life isn't together", Jones said.

"Don't talk to me about a guy that's ineligible", Cormier said as Jones stood cageside. He was able to get a high under-hook and keep Johnson against the cage. "He's still on suspension".
