Klopp snubbed by Dortmund duo

Dembele said he had already committed to Dortmund before Jurgen Klopp saw him in Paris

Two of the finest teenage talents within world football, Liverpool fans will be left wondering what might have been after Borussia Dortmund pairing Christian Pulisic and Ousmane Dembele revealed they both turned down Jurgen Klopp's side last summer.

Klopp has come under increasing pressure since the turn of the year as Liverpool have crashed out of both domestic cup competitions and fallen well off the pace in the Premier League title race.

He later pledged his future to Dortmund by signing a new contract extension in January, killing Jurgen Klopp's hopes of bringing him to Anfield.

Borussia Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel is confident Mario Gotze will return to be an important part of his squad after being ruled out for an unknown period.

French worldwide Dembele said Klopp tried to presuade him to make the move to England, with Leicester City also interested, but he already had his heart set on a move to Germany.

Dortmund rejected the bid and Pulisic claims that Liverpool were never really on his mind.

Pulisic added: "I have respect for Klopp and I know him - he was very welcoming to me here - but I was never really thinking about going to Liverpool".

U.S. global Pulisic was also a top target for Klopp last summer but an £11million offer for the midfielder was turned down by BVB. 'I am always in touch with my former players.

However, Dortmund eventually won the race to sign 19-year-old.
