Kevin Love to have knee procedure, miss six weeks

Cleveland OH USA- The Cleveland Cavaliers' Kevin Love goes after a first-quarter rebound against the Atlanta Hawks during Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Wednesday

Already without shooting guard J.R. Smith for another month as he recovers from surgery to fix a broken thumb, the Cavaliers (37-16) lost power forward Kevin Love for at least six weeks because of surgery to remove "a loose body" from his left knee on Tuesday.

Love, who is having his best season with Cleveland, had a "loose body" removed from his knee by orthopedic surgeon David Altchek in NY, the Cavs said. The Cavaliers will try to pick up a road win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday before returning to Cleveland for a four-game homestand. The team is reportedly looking to get a second opinion on their stretch forward's knee, fueling talks that Love could be out for an extended period of time. Just next man up. He scored 16 points with nine rebounds and five assists in 34 minutes against the Nuggets. It was his first invite to the February festivities since joining the Cavs in 2014.

LeBron James said of the injury it, "sucks", and that it's particularly hard with guard J.R. Smith also out of the lineup. If Love were to miss six weeks, he would return about two weeks before the playoffs begin.

The Cavs said they will update his status as appropriate. With Cleveland's uncertain health, the conference looks as open as it has since James and the Miami Heat figured things out years ago. "Guys have to step up and be ready to play". Channing Frye will start in place of Love in the first game he's sidelined.

"We don't want to rush those guys back", Lue said.

LeBron was one of the main athletes featured in the commercial, along with Golden States Warriors superstar Kevin Durant, Serena Williams, stud soccer player Megan Rapinoe, and Dalilah Muhammad, an incredible Olympic hurdler.
