Dwyane Wade sends support to Jabari Parker following ACL tear

Midway through the third quarter, Jabari Parker drove toward the basket, planted his left foot and was greeted with excruciating pain. He was eventually helped off the court by teammates. This morning, Parker underwent an MRI that revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee. He was averaging a career high in points per game with 20.1, in rebounds with 6.2, and assists with 2.8 per game. That was an ACL injury and Parker needed surgery, which ended his rookie season far too early and delayed the start of his sophomore year.

The team said his rehabilitation will take 12 months, with surgery coming.

A surprise playoff team in 2014-15, they regressed badly last season as their defense fell apart. Along with Parker, headlined by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee's young core was improving rapidly as the season has progressed.

Sad news for Jabari and the Bucks. But the first blow came in September when 2015-16 leading scorer Khris Middleton tore his hamstring.

Parker's injury is a ideal example of cruel the basketball gods can be.

It is the same knee Parker injured when he tore his ACL during his rookie season in a December game in Phoenix.

Kent Bazemore #24 of the Atlanta Hawks draws a charge from Jabari Parker #12 of the Milwaukee Bucks at Philips Arena on January 15, 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia. He recovered in ten-and-a-half months from that injury, and was able to play 76 games the next season.

Miami connected at a 47.7 percent clip and made 11 of 33 3-point attempts, but grabbed 14 offensive rebounds - with Whiteside and Rodney McGruber grabbing three apiece. For now, we can only wish Jabari Parker the best and wonder how he and the Bucks deserved such bad, familiar tragedy. Bucks coach Jason Kidd said he wanted them to get more practice time before seeing game action.
